On Tuesday, Home Minister Amit Shah gave a statement in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha about the glacier breakdown and flood disaster in Uttarakhand. Shah said that the Central Government and the Prime Minister are themselves monitoring the situation in the state. The Home Ministry is monitoring the situation 24 hours. All possible assistance is being provided to the state. Sharing the information from the satellite, it was clear that the avalanche occurred at the glacial mouth about 5,600 meters above sea level. This snowflake was almost as big as 14 square kilometers. Due to this, there was a sudden flood situation in the lower areas of Rishi Ganga.

The Home Minister said that 12 people have been evacuated from the tunnel of NTPC’s project site at the time of the accident. Similarly, 15 people were rescued from the Rishiganga project site. In the second tunnel of NTPC, 25 to 35 people are feared trapped. Efforts to evacuate them are on a war footing.

He said that an avalanche occurred in the upper catchment area of ​​Rishiganga, a tributary of Alaknanda in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand at around 10 am on February 7. Due to this, the water level of the Rishiganga river suddenly increased significantly.

Five air force helicopters deployed
He said that five helicopters of the Air Force have also been pressed into relief and rescue operations. Army has established a control room in Joshimath. Home Minister Shah said that ITBP has also set up a control room and 450 of its soldiers are engaged in the search and rescue work of the missing people.

Five teams of NDRF are also on the spot. Eight army teams are also present there. An army medical team and an ambulance are also on the spot. A team of naval divers has also been deployed there. The state government has announced a financial assistance of four lakh rupees to the dependents of each deceased.
