Manipur: Supreme Court transfers cases related to Manipur violence to Assam, accused will appear online
The court said that if the victims of Manipur violence, witnesses or other people related to the case do not want to appear online then the court will allow them to appear physically in the court.

The Supreme Court on Friday said that the cases related to the Manipur violence being investigated by the CBI will be heard in the neighboring state of Assam. Also, the Supreme Court has directed the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court to nominate judges to hear the cases related to the Manipur violence. The bench headed by the Chief Justice of the country DY Chandrachud said that judicial proceedings like trial, remand, judicial custody of the accused will be online in the court decided by the Guwahati High Court.

The Supreme Court said that the accused of violence in Manipur will be taken into judicial custody in Manipur. This will be done to avoid noise. The court said that if the victims of Manipur violence, witnesses or other people related to the case do not want to appear online then the court will allow them to appear physically in the court. It is to be noted that on August 21, the Supreme Court constituted the Justice Geeta Mittal panel, which will monitor the rehabilitation and relief work of the people affected by the communal violence in Manipur.
Displaced people need to make identity card
Due to the displacement of a large number of people due to the violence in Manipur, there is a possibility that their identity cards will be lost. In this case, the panel has appealed to the Supreme Court to issue instructions to the UIDAI along with the state government to provide Aadhaar cards to these people. The panel has submitted three reports in the Supreme Court, in which the need to create identity cards for people, upgrade compensation and deployment of officers to provide relief to people.
CBI is investigating more than 10 cases in Manipur
Let it be known that more than 10 cases, including the case of two women being stripped and raped by a mob, are being investigated by the CBI in Manipur. More than 160 people have died and thousands of people have been displaced in the violence in Manipur. Violence broke out during the Tribal Solidarity March on May 3 against the demand for tribal reservation for the Maitai community. Later it took the form of communal violence between Kuki and Maitai community.
